If you care about your oral health, you should also pay special attention to having aligned teeth. As you know, crowded teeth can cause many periodontal and dental diseases because of such teeth’ problematic cleaning. Therefore, the first step to eliminate concerns about your oral and periodontal health is to take the necessary measures to have aligned and well-positioned teeth.

Keep in mind that in order to straighten your teeth you first need to visit an orthodontist.  In case the orthodontist diagnosed that the crowded teeth were caused by dentofacial malocclusions applying laminate will not be effective in treating crowded teeth. In this case, the misalignment of both the teeth and jaw can be corrected with an appropriate orthodontic device. However, in case your teeth are too small, fractured, cracked, have structural problems, or your teeth are decolored you can benefit from teeth restoration methods such as laminate. Teeth restoration methods including laminate, veneer, and composite do not affect the position of teeth in a patient’s mouth. In fact, restoration methods are used for correcting the color, size, or structure of teeth.

Some patients who have inherited small teeth can use orthodontic treatment to straighten their teeth. Using restoration methods such as laminate, veneer, and composite is a wrong option for these patients and they have to be treated properly via orthodontics.

Effects of orthodontics on teeth alignment

People with malocclusions are recommended to visit an orthodontist before puberty to receive the necessary treatments to have aligned and well-positioned teeth. Orthodontics is among the best treatment options for crowded teeth. Therefore, patients with crowded teeth should refer to a specialized orthodontics clinic and begin the treatment as soon as possible to achieve the desired therapeutic result.

The placement of orthodontic archwires on teeth is an easy and simple treatment to align and reposition both the maxillary and mandibular teeth. Orthodontics is the most preferred and best dentistry solution to have aligned teeth. Orthodontic treatments can properly and gradually align and reposition crowded or crowded teeth. The client can quickly notice the difference at the end of orthodontic treatments. Based on the client’s conditions and age, the orthodontist may apply either fixed or removable orthodontic appliances to treat crowded teeth. The treatment plan proposed by the orthodontist provides oral health and allows the client to clean his/her teeth easily. Fortunately, orthodontic treatments can well align crowded or malpositioned teeth without any complication. It is interesting to know that aligned and well-positioned teeth are less exposed to decay and other potential dental diseases.

Relationship between patient age and teeth alignment with orthodontics

When patients visit an orthodontist at pre-pubertal ages, the orthodontist can take advantage of the patient’s growth process and easily use orthodontic treatments to align his/her teeth and treat any other malocclusion, relieving the patient of the need for maxillofacial surgery in adulthood. For example, children aged under 12-13 years with a malocclusion (without a maxillofacial abnormality) can easily receive orthodontic treatments for their malocclusion. This does not at all mean that a 20- or 30-year-old patient cannot undergo orthodontic treatments to have aligned teeth. Patients with an acceptable level of periodontal and oral health can take advantage of orthodontic treatments to achieve the desired results. In any periodontal disease or dental problem, the orthodontist should first treat the periodontal disease or any dental problem and then use orthodontic appliances to treat the patient’s malocclusion. Patients older than the orthodontic age but with healthy gums and good oral health can undergo orthodontic treatments. However, patients should know that the best time for orthodontic treatments is before puberty. Patients who timely begin orthodontic treatments can enjoy having aligned and well-positioned teeth. In other words, people should not live with less efficient and malfunctioning teeth until adulthood.
