These appliances only rotate the mandible down and back, causing the patient\u2019s face to lengthen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is usually a genetic background in patients with mandibular growth. Jaw surgery called the mandibular set back is considered the definitive treatment for this malformation to retract the mandible.
